We will transform CPAA into a member-driven organization that advocates for our schools, enhances our profession, and influences the policies that impact our students’ lives. Click on the bolded title of each goal to see some of my strategies for accomplishing them.
Goal 1: Defend and Champion: Support educational programs that serve Chicago children by illuminating both the challenges that schools face and more importantly, the accomplishments they achieve in the face of those challenges.
Goal 2: Public Awareness: Promote public awareness of the complex and ever evolving issues in education.
Goal 3: Compensation & Representation: Establish and maintain a realistic and explicit system of financial and professional compensation, and represent the interests of members and their schools in forums with the Board of Education and its designees.
Goal 4: Professional Development & Prestige: Provide professional aid and increased professional status to its membership through forums, leadership development, advice, idea sharing, eligibility supports, and assistant principal leadership pipelines.
Goal 5 – Policy Development: Secure involvement of its members in the development of policy positions on issues that impact schools.
Goal 6 – Policy Enactment: Secure involvement of members in lobbying for the enactment of municipal, state, and federal policies that positively impact schools.
Goal 7 – Communication: Toward the above ends, develop and maintain effective communication with CPAA members, the Superintendent/CEO, the Board and its designees, the Chicago Teachers Union, the Illinois State Board of Education and other private and governmental bodies.
